Google, the Search Engine king has decided to give smartphone another try by introducing MotoX. Google bought Motorola last year for 12.5 billion and has revamped, reshaped, retooled, and that is where MotoX originated from. Google ad sales are falling short and a smartphone line may open a new stream of revenue. The MotoX comes equipped with the standard smartphone features that most if not all the current smartphones have. However there is one unique twist to it: you can control the MotoX just by talking to it, completely hands free.
Google has a lot of stake riding on the MotoX not only because of the extremely high price they paid for Motorola a year ago but this is their debut for manufacturing hardware. The MotoX is most likely going to be a big hit but only time can tell for sure.
The specs of the MotoX is fairly decent. At its core, the MotoX is running the new X8 Mobile Computing System. With a Snapdragon s4 Pro along with a 1.7 GHz dual-core Krait CPU and a quad-core Adreno 320 GPU. MotoX also comes with two unique Motorola processors, one to handle language interpretation and another serving as a contextual computing core.
As we dissect the MotoX deeper, we're looking at a 4.7 inch 720p (316 ppi) AMOLED panel with 2GB of RAM and 16 GB of store. There is however a 32 GB option only with AT&T. The battery is a 2,200 mAh battery that is said to offer up to 1 full day (24 hours) of mixed usage.
The cameras are a 10-megapixel Clear Pixel in the rear and a 2-megapixel front facing camera. Yes, both cameras on the MotoX has the capability to shoot and film in 1080p. The MotoX finishing features include a Bluetooth 4.0, standard 3.5mm headphone jack, USB 2.0, 802.11a/b/g/n/ac, Miracast Wireless Display, GPS & GLONASS and a nano-SIM.
The one thing that completely stands out on the MotoX is the voice capabilities and how its highly customizable. The 16GB model will retail for $199 with a two-year contract on AT&T, Sprint, T-Mobile, US Cellular and Verizon, while the 32 GB (Exclusive to AT&T) will go for $249. AT&T customers will have access to additional color options. Other carriers are limited to black and white.
The MotoX is scheduled to be in stores at the end of August.
