After the death of Ma Ailun, the flight attendant who was electrocuted while answering her iPhone 5 while it was charging (Read the full story here), Apple is launching their new USB trade-in program. This is a step to ease the fears on the potentially faulty USB adapters. The investigation is still currently going on, and they have not said if the USB charger was a genuine Apple USB charger or a 3rd-party one. But regardless, Apple took a step forward and is now offering and instituting the USB Power Adapter Takeback Program, which will let folks pick up first-party iPad, iPhone and iPod plugs for $10 (instead of the usual $19) if they return their any of their current adapters. Don't plan to stock up on the power-giving cubes though, as the deal is limited to one adapter for each device you own.
Stop by any Apple store and pick up a new adapter or charger for the price of $10. It's always good to be safe than sorry.
