USB-IF

USB 3.0 Promoter Group announced availability of the USB 3.1 Specification to increase SuperSpeed USB to 10 Gbps.

Mentioned earlier in this year's CES 2013 by USB-IF chairman and COO, Jeff Ravencraft the idea of a double-speed 10 Gbps was just looming around the corner with products possibly using the technology in Christmas of 2014.  Today, USB-IF announces that they have completed the specification for USB 3.1 and the first development session will begin on August 21st, 2013.

"The USB 3.1 specification primarily extends existing USB 3.0 protocol and hub operation for speed scaling along with defining the next higher physical layer speed as 10 Gbps." said Brad Saunders, USB 3.0 Promoter Group Chairman.
