The trend for lighter and thinner laptops seems to have found its way over to the mobile pc gaming world.  Earlier this year, Razer unveils its successor to their 17in gaming laptop with the newly updated Razer Blade and was consider the thinnest and lightest 17-in gaming laptop you can find. Today however, MSI takes the crown away from Razer with their GS70.

Lightweight and thin were always never something you would associate with a powerful gaming laptop because of the components necessary to exhaust all the heat.  So typically, you would find a powerful gaming laptops to be bulky, heavy and never really aesthetically pleasing.  With smaller, more energy efficient and less heat components like the new Intel Haswell chip, MSI seems to have found a way to fix all those negatives and builds this beautiful machine.

Weighing in at 5.73lbs and measuring at 16.47 x 11.29 x 0.85, the GS70 is powered by a Core i7-4700 clocked at 2.4 with a 3.4GHz boost.  The system also includes – 16GB DDR3L 1600MHz ram, NVIDIA GeForce GTX 765M (2G GDDR5) and Full HD 17.3-in anti-reflective screen.  For hard drive space, you have 2 option.  At $1799.99 USD, you would get a 128GB SDD along with a 750gb HDD.  Whereas $1999.99 would buy you dual 128GB SSDs running in RAID 0, along with a 1TB HDD.  All these components are packed in an brushed aluminum chassis. For comparison purposes, Razer sells their 128GB SSD version for $2299,99 and their 256GB SSD version for $2499,99 (no addition HDD provided for both versions).

The most eye catching thing about this laptop for me was the keyboard.  MSI is working with Steelseries to provide consumers with an Anti-Ghosting gaming keyboard that is fully customization in term of color combinations.  The Anti-Ghosting will help games with games that requires you to hold down multiple keystrokes at a time and prevent you from missing a key.

"The GS70 has the capability to crush the most demanding games and [has] feather-like portability for on-the-go multitasking or gaming," said Andy Tung, vice president of sales for MSI US. "We understand the needs of our audience and are committed to delivering solutions that exceed even the highest expectations."

Currently, the release date is still unknown, but stay tuned!
